I’m Macy, a writer, editor, musician, and born creative. I’m originally from Brunswick, Maine, where I grew up reading non-stop and pretending I was a Percy Jackson & The Olympians character. I began my journey with writing and editing by immersing myself in the world of poetry and narrative writing. By age 16, I had written a full-length science-fiction novel and a collection of short poems. I got involved at school as well, receiving the 2016 Cornell Book Award, becoming one of the founding members of the Brunswick High School Literature Club, and being elected as Co-President of the club along with my close confidant the following year. I pride myself (perhaps foolishly) on being an absolute nerd for words since birth. While studying life sciences was uniquely fascinating and enlightening, I never really flourished over the microscope as I did over the keyboard. I genuinely enjoyed spending hours meticulously editing my peers’ papers, helping students who spoke English as a second language, and spending my free time working on my next great story idea, which is why I decided to make the switch to becoming an English major. I had the privilege of learning from some of the best English, history, and creative writing professors in Nova Scotia, many of them published authors themselves, who not only helped me shape my voice and hone my skills but gave me the confidence to pursue my writing and editing career.
